Wool Couture's 'Woolly Mammoth' rectangular loom - it's the biggest of all our looms and is designed by makers for makers.
Our Woolly Mammoth weaving loom is laser cut by our team of artisans and hand finished in our Yorkshire studio with strong 9mm FSC certified laser plywood. We're passionate about the World's environment and the FSC ensures responsible management of our World's forests.
With the Woolly Mammoth weaving loom, you can create weavings in either landscape or portrait. You can make one giant weaving or a number of smaller ones across the loom. It's so versatile, you can make wall hangings, decorations, cushions... the opportunities are endless.
We particularly like the results when you combine our Woolly Mammoth looms with our thick roving yarn. It produces really eye-catching results!
You can, of course, use any size of yarn on these looms as the teeth are 0.5cm apart, which allows for thick or thin yarn.
The loom is supplied for you to assemble at home with eight flat head Chicago screws which easily attach. The benefit of these screws is that you have no bolts sticking out of the back, which makes a much more pleasant weaving experience. Finally, when you have completed your weaving you can pack this loom away for easy storage. I have been known to take this loom on holiday!
Our Woolly Looms measure:
Outer: 59cm (23.22?) x 49cm (19.29?)
Inner working space: 52cm (20.5?) x 42cm (16.5?)
We have 3 types of kits:

When warping the loom avoid stretchy cotton. Choose strong cotton warp. The looms are made with strong 9mm wood. When warping the loom avoid applying excessive tension (really, really, really tight) as this may cause the loom to bow. The tension should be strong but not excessive.
