Founded in 2015, Wool Couture is a young brand specialising in ‘make it your-self’ knitting, crochet, weaving and macrame kits.  We manufacture our own wooden craft tools and we also offer a unique range of handmade accessories and homewares.  We are on online brand and our customers come from all over the world, we also wholesale to a number of larger brands including John Lewis and Free People

Location: BBIC, Innovation Way, Barnsley, S75 1JL (soon to be moving to a bigger location, still in Barnsley)

Reports to: Operations Manager

Hours: Were flexible for the right candidate and up to full time hours are available, you must be available to work the hours between Monday – Friday.  During the Autumn and Winter period some weekend work may be required.

Salary: up to £18k per annum pro-rata (depending on experience)

More about the role:

We are a small team and our business is growing.  We have a vacancy for an e-commerce and social media administrator.  

Your role will involve updating and maintaining our e-commerce sites and working on our social media accounts to showcase our products.  You must be flexible though – we’re a small business and sometimes its literally all hands to the decks; our customers are our main priority and you will find yourself packing orders and supporting the day to day delivery of our growing business.  

You will have a good knowledge of e-commerce and will be social media savvy, with good computer skills and the ability to use a number of different software packages.

We pride ourself on getting things right for our customers and we need someone that pays attention to detail.  People might have called you a perfectionist in the past and this is just what we are looking for – these qualities will be perfect for our business.  

Because were a small business we can get really busy and we really need someone that can remain calm under pressure and who enjoys working in what can be an extremely busy environment.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Working on multiple online e-commerce sites e.g. Not on the High Street, ETSY and company specific online sites, to keep them up to date and looking good! 
  • Developing new e-commerce product listings; refreshing listings and ensuring a seamless customer experience
  • Writing and posting social media content and talking with our customers
  • Writing our regular newsletters
  • Supporting Claire our MD in bringing new products to life, including involvement in photography shoots, product descriptions and designing new kits.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work place
  • Willing to undertake all relevant training, education and supervision required with the role
  • Passion for handmade products and keeping traditional skills alive

You will ideally be:

  • Savvy on e-commerce sites e.g. NOTHS, ETSY, websites
  • A social media lover e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest
  • Good at writing a story – we need someone that can put beautiful words on a page to describe our products
  • Highly motivated and able to complete tasks independently
  • A real team player
  • An excellent communicator 
  • Interested in contemporary designs and trends
  • Experienced in using e-commerce sites and Apple systems
  • Excellent in written, verbal and numeracy skills
  • A creative individual with a can-do attitude
  • Able to drive your own car for work use
  • Flexible towards working increased hours if required
  • Willing to undertake other duties as and when required

Because were a small business having team members with additional skills, abilities or interests is always useful, so whilst not necessary for the role, do shout out if you have any of the following: second language, photography & photoshop, knitting or crochet skills, wood turning skills, laser cutting skills, trade show experience or anything you think may be relevant for the job.

This role requires candidates to be able to stand for long periods of time and be physically fit to lift and carry our stock which can be around 10 kilos in weight.
